Breathtaking performance at Silverstone
Extra makes world champions

The recent aerobatic world championship 2009 in Silverstone, England has turned into a breathtaking success for our racy top performer aircraft. Five of the first ten top ranking pilots have achieved their successes with the help of their Extra aircraft. The ruling aerobatic world champion in the classic and free stile competitions, Renaud Ecalle flew to victory in an Extra 330SC.

For some time already, experts speaking off the record had expected the combination of Renaud Ecalle and the Extra 330 SC to be a tough nut to crack for the competition at Silverstone. And that's exactly what happened.

With his double success as world champion in both, the classic and free stile disciplines, Renauld showed a very high degree of physical and mental resilience under the pressures of a world championship and in front of a large audience

However – even the best aerobatic pilot can't win the world championship without the world's best aerobatic aircraft. And this was precisely what Renaud Ecalle was flying: The 330SC. His perfect, brand spanking new aircraft from the factory of aerobatics Old Master Walter Extra made the aircraft of his competitors look "old" in the true meaning of the word. And here's where all Extra pilots agree: the combination of performance and handling qualities of the aircraft coming from our shop at Dinslaken, Germany are presently unsurpassed.

Small wonder therefore that all of us here at Extra Flugzeugproduktion are over the moon with the recent successes at Silverstone, since they prove impressively the high technical and quality standards of Extra aircraft. As of now the Extra 330SC is the benchmark that all other manufacturers of aerobatic aircraft will have to match. We have once again raised the bar a little more, and that's something we're all proud of.

Extra Aircraft adds Aspen Avionics to EXTRA 300/L, /LP & /LC

On August 7th, 2008 the installation of an Aspen EFD1000 PFD using the Pilot software was EASA certified for the EA 300/L /LP /LC model.

Extra Aircraft announces a new dealer for the Western US

July 1, 2009 Extra Aircraft has entered into an agreement with US Aero to represent Extra Aircraft in the Western US.  US Aero has offices in Denver, CO and Long Beach, CA.

April 2nd 2009, EXTRA proudly welcomes Walter Kampsmann representing his company EXTRABATICS on board as German sales agency. Walter Kampsmann is a former member of the German National Aerobatic Team and has logged several thousand flight hours in his flight school Westflug Aachen

Extra Certifies the 2 seat 330LC

February 2009 Extra aircraft announces the EASA certification of the Extra 330LC.  The LC is a 2 place competition, training and air show aircraft.  The new aircraft uses the Lycoming AEIO-580-B1A engine.  Using new production techniques we have reduced the weight of the aircraft.  The aircraft includes a newly designed acrobatic fuel tank that holds 67 liters of fuel good for over 45 minutes of aerobatics.

Extra Aircraft starts production of Extra 500

The 1st Extra 500 for a customer in Berlin Germany started production early 2009. 

The customer is expecting delivery in 2009.  The EA500 is the newest entry in to the 6 place cabin class single engine turboprop market.  Powered by the Rolls Royce 250-B17F/2 it offers outstanding performance, economy, range and payload.

Extra Aircraft announces the delivery of 3 aerobatic aircraft to the Acrobatic Team of the French Airforce.

Extra Aircraft delivered 2 EA 300/SC’s and 1 EA 300/LC aircraft to Equipe de Voltige de Armee de l’air (EVAA) on August 18th, 2008.  This is our first delivery to the French government.

Extra Aircraft delivers 1st EXTRA 330/LC into Russia

October ,2008 Extra Aircraft delivered the 1st new 330/LC aerobatic aircraft to a customer in Russia. The first EXTRA 330/SC follows in November 2009.

Extra Aircraft announces a new agent in Russia

In July 2008 Extra Aircraft appointed Aerobatica Agency  as the aurthorized agent for Extra Aircraft in Russia and the CIS.  Aerobatica is located in Moscow.

Extra Certifies new single seat aircraft – 330SC

July 17th, 2008 Extra aircraft announces the EASA certification of the Extra 330SC.  The SC represents the ultimate in performance for competition and air show performers.  The new aircraft uses the newly certified Lycoming AEIO-580-B1A.  The aircraft includes newly designed ailerons that boost roll rate to over 400°/s.  To reduce weight new production techniques are used.  The aircraft uses the new MT MTV-9-B-C/C198-25 propeller.  All together the aircraft represents a leap in performance over the previous 300S and the competition.

Extra Aircraft delivers 5 aerobatic aircraft to Royal Jordanian Falcons

The Royal Jordanian Air Force took delivery of 5 new Extra 300/L’s in February 2007.  The aircraft replaced 5 mid-wing Extra 300’s.  The reliability and durability of the aircraft has proven itself to the military and allows air show presentations with little down time.

The Mazda Aerobatic Team consisting of team leader Brad Bennets and Wingman Ian Billing will participate again in the upcoming FAI World GP taking place in Japan Nov 2007. This time in their new EXTRA(s) 300L.
