Honeywell Announces:
TTP-based APEX Selected for Extra EA-500
April 29, 2004 -
Honeywell announced that Extra
Aircraft has selected Honeywell’s APEX integrated cockpit as the standard
avionics package in the new Extra EA-500 single-engine turboprop business
aircraft, beginning in 2006. This is the second publicly announced aircraft
equipped with Honeywell’s APEX integrated cockpit.
"The EA-500 is designed to be
efficient and economical, while offering superior performance and safety. The
APEX system is a perfect match for Extra Aircraft’s high standards" said Dan
Barks, Director of Marketing, Honeywell Business, Regional and General Aviation.
"We designed APEX for this class of aircraft, and it offers the ultimate in
safety, quality, functionality, operational simplicity and
reliability."
Honeywell eliminates more than half
the wires required in light jet and turboprop aircraft by using TTP databus as
communication system. This leads to lower costs for installations and upgrades,
reduces the weight, and increases the load-carrying capability of the
aircraft.
