EXTRA BRINGS HOME THE GOLD IN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Flying in an Extra EA-300S, German pilot Klaus Schrodt brought home the Manfred Stroessenreuther Trophy as a result of his spectacular flight in the XXIII World Aerobatic Championships in Burgos, Spain, over the past weekend.
Competing in the 4 minute program, Schrodt perfected a free-form performance complete with smoke and music in his Extra aircraft, giving crowds a performance they will not soon forget.
Schrodt was competing against 20 other pilots ofr first place. He has won the German Aerobatic Championship eight times and in 2001 took first in the World Freestyle Aerobatic Championships. He is currently competing in the 2005 Red Bull Air Race World Series which will culminate in San Francisco, Calif., on October 8. Schrodt is currently in fourth place, behind Peter Besenyei and Steve Jones, both of whom fly Extras as well.
