EXTRA AIRCRAFT’S NEWEST HIGH-PERFORMANCE PLANE GIVEN EXCELLENT REVIEWS BY FIRST CUSTOMER
The EA-300LP Exceeds Expectations
LANCASTER, Pa. – Extra Aircraft has exceeded expectations with its latest high-performance aircraft, the EA-300LP, according to its first owner. South African businessman and aerobatic pilot Fernando Rueda recently received his aircraft, the first 300LP model in the 300 series to roll off the production line.
“I was speechless,” said Rueda, recalling one of his first flights in the 300LP. “The harmony of controls where all the forces are so perfectly balanced on the ailerons, elevators and rudders is simply fantastic and is achieved only with the best of engineering.”
Walter Extra and Extra Aircraft’s team of engineers designed the EA-300LP specifically for the competitive and performance pilot. The 300LP has all the built-in design and safety features of its predecessors, but weighs up to 30 pounds lighter. The redesigned cowling is the most noticeable feature and allows for improved air flow.
Rueda, who plans to compete next year in the South African championships, wanted to go to a mono wing for competition flying. “The item I find the most pleasant besides the fantastic ergonomics is the honesty of the airplane when you take it to the extreme,” said Rueda. “For example, before now I have been unable to do an involuntary snap. Therefore, with my new 300LP I was trying to over-pull with low air speed, high-speed stall to see when it would snap and which wing would be the one to drop on a regular basis. Instead, it stalled perfectly symmetrically—again proof of great engineering.”
“Our 300LP is giving pilots a competitive edge in competition,” said Ken Weaver, president of Extra Aircraft. “We feel it is the best production aerobatic plane on the market, and now our customers are experiencing it firsthand.”
Rueda says he wanted the best and that there was no other choice besides the EA-300LP. “I have never flown any other plane with such harmony of controls and with such magnificent character,” said Rueda. “Once you ‘push’ the envelope, its performance is just superb. Its power-to-weight ratio is well above my expectations.”
Orders for the EA-300LP, as well as Extra’s other 300 series planes, are exceeding expectations, and the company is seeing record sales. Extra Aircraft has also taken deposits on delivery positions for its new business and touring EA-500 through 2007.
